University of London

Formed by Deed of Settlement in 1826 as a secular alternative to the established Universities of Oxford and Cambridge which only awarded degrees to members of the Church of England. Funding helped by Sir Isaac Goldsmid, who often signs certificates. Later known as University College, London (UCL)
