
Edinburgh and Northern Railway Company
Incorporated on 31st July 1845
One of two new lines (the other being the Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee company) formed to take over and extend the workings of the Edinburgh, Leith and Granton Railway. This extended route made connections over the Firth of Forth via the Burntisland Ferry, the earliest railway ferry in Great Britain.
Capital £1,040,000 in 26,000 Whole Shares of £25 each, and 26,000 New Shares of £15 each. Loans of £346,000.
