Scarborough and Whitby Railway Company
Incorporated on 29th July 1871. A 21 mile line between the towns, opened in 1885 and later absorbed by the North Eastern Railway.
Capital £120,000 in shares, and loans of £40,000. Extension capital in 1873 of £50,000 and £16,000 raised, and in 1880 the company created £54,740 in ‘B’ stock, and £145,000 in ‘C’ shares. Increased again in 1884 by £160,000 and 53,333 respectively.
1871
