Kendal and Windermere Railway Company
Incorporated on 30th June 1845.
A 10 mile standard gauge line between the towns, and connecting with the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway. The line opened in 1847 and was leased to the L&CR, both companies passing to the London and North Western company in 1879.
Original capital of £125,000 in 5,000 Whole Shares of £25 each. Loans of £40,000. Capital increased by £50,000 in preference shares, and by further loans of £16,000 in 1848.
