Incorporated on 31st July 1845.
A 28 mile line connecting the cities. It was designed to provide the Manchester and Leeds Railway with a route to Liverpool when they later extended their line to Bury. The Liverpool and Bury was amalgamated with the latter company in 1846, then becoming part of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
Capital £1,000,000 in shares and £304,000 in loans.
