
London and Birmingham Railway Company
Incorporated on 6th May 1833.
A 112 mile trunk line to connect the two major cities. Its final terminus was London Euston, and it opened throughout the full route in 1838, having opened in sections (linked by road coach) previously. The line amalgamated with the Grand Junction and the Manchester and Birmingham Railways to form the London and North Western Railway in 1846.
Capital £8,250,000 when amalgamated into the LNW.
Original Capital £2,750,000 divided into 55,000 ‘Quarter’ shares of £25 each, and 68,750 ‘Fifth’ shares of £20 each.
