
London and North Western Railway Company
Incorporated on 16th July 1846.
An amalgamation of the London and Birmingham, the Grand Junction, the Manchester and Birmingham, and the Liverpool and Manchester Railways. A standard gauge rail network over 400 miles in length. Later formed part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway.
Original Capital at amalgamation: £17,242,310 including;
London & Birmingham: 55,000 £25 Quarter Shares, and 68,750 £20 Fifth Shares.
Grand Junction: 12,090 £40 Shares, and 24,789 £25 New Quarter Shares.
Manchester and Birmingham: 30,000 £10 Class A Shares, 60,000 £10 Class B Shares, and 70,000 £10 Class C Shares.
London and North Western: 168,381 £25 Extension Shares.
