
London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Company
Incorporated on 27th July 1846
An amalgamation of the London and Brighton, and the London and Croydon Railways. It provided the most direct route from the capital to the seaside resorts of Brighton, Eastbourne and Bognor Regis, serving much of Sussex and Surrey. The line later formed the central section of the Southern Railway.

Consolidated Stock from both original companies included at £4,730,000; London and Brighton £3,385,000 and London and Croydon £1,345,000.
Preference capital created £1,037,596.
