Newcastle and Berwick Railway Company
Incorporated on 13th July 1845.
A 65 mile main line to complete the route between London and Edinburgh, promoted by the owners of the Newcastle and Darlington Railway. It opened in 1847, connecting the York and Newcastle with the North British Railway. The line formed part of the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway which passed to the North Eastern Railway when it was incorporated in 1854.
