Oystermouth Railway or Tramroad Company
Incorporated on 29th June 1804.
A Horse-drawn line from Swansea to Oystermouth covering 8 miles. It opened in 1807 as the first public railway to carry fare-paying passengers in the world! Passenger services ended in 1826, but lines were re-laid and steam power used from 1860. The line became the Swansea and Mumbles Railway in 1879.
Capital £8,000 in shares and £4,000 in loans.
