
South Wales Railway Company
Incorporated on 4th August 1845.
A broad gauge line running nearly 195 miles between the Gloucester and Forest of Dean Railway to the harbours at Pembroke and Fishguard, via Newport, Cardiff, Swansea and Carmarthen. It amalgamated with the Bullo Pill and the Forest of Dean Railways in 1847, and contributed to numerous others in the area, passing to the Great Western in 1863.
Original Capital £2,800,000 in 56,000 Shares of £50 each. Loans of £1,000,000. Total capital in 1853 £3,659,580 in shares and £1,021,599 in loans.
