
South Yorkshire Railway and River Dun Company
Incorporated in 1850
Originally the South Yorkshire, Doncaster and Goole Railway, the company amalgamated with the River Dun Navigation Co. and formed the South Yorkshire Railway and River Dun Company, often shortened to the South Yorkshire. It was leased to the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway from 1861, taken over in 1864.
