Description
Directors:
Thomas C. Platt. After a variety of jobs including President of the Tioga National Bank, and President of the Southern Central and other Railroads, Platt became a director of this company in 1879 and then elected to President in 1880. He is best known for his political career and was elected Senator from New York 3 times, in 1881, 1897 and 1903. He was instrumental in bringing Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island into the City of New York in 1898 and being the Republican ‘boss’ of New York.
