Incorporated on 23rd July 1858
A line connecting two towns in the North Riding area, and linking with the Middlesborough and Guisborough Railway. The line opened in 1861 and was worked by the West Hartlepool Railway, who subscribed £50,000 to the project. The Cleveland Railway became amalgamated with the North Eastern Railway in 1865.
