Cowes and Newport (Isle of Wight) Railway Company
Incorporated on 8th August 1859
A 5 mile line running between the named towns. It opened in 1862 and from 1877 was worked as one system together with the Ryde and Newport Railway. The two companies amalgamated to form the Isle of Wight Central Railway in 1887, which was absorbed by the Southern Railway in 1923.
Capital £30,000 in shares of £10 each, loans of £10,000. Increased in 1863 by £20,000 and £6,500, and in 1875 by £10,000 and £3,300 respectively.
