Cromford and High Peak Railway Company
Incorporated on 2nd May 1825
A 34 mile line built to carry mineral goods between two canals in the Peak District. It opened in 1831, and covered an incline between the canals of around 1,000ft. In 1862 it was leased to the London and North Western, becoming vested in that company in 1887.
Original Capital Unknown. New capital raised in 1858 of £60,000 in 6% preference shares, and £20,000 in loans. Capital re-arranged on leasing to the L&NW.
