English, Scottish and Australian Bank Limited
Incorporated in 1893 to take over the English, Scottish and Australian Chartered Bank which had been founded in 1852. A banknote issuer from its early days in Sydney. Acquired the Commercial Bank of Tasmania and the London Bank of Australia in 1921 and the Royal Bank of Australia in 1927. Merged with the Australia and New Zealand Bank in 1970.
