
Bank of South Australia (Limited)
Founded in 1837 as the banking arm of the South Australian Company. Separated in 1842 and given a Royal charter in 1847 as the South Australian Banking Company. Name changed when charter renewed in 1867. Charter cancelled in 1884 and the company registered then under the Company’s Act. Caught up in land speculation in the latter part of the 1880’s and absorbed by the Union Bank in 1892. Registered 1884. Dissolved <1916. Company number 20619
