Formed as the Golden Reefs Ltd. To acquire the Golden Reef mine, Copper Mountain, Arizona, USA. This property was abandoned by 1899 with negotiations for a new property at Burbanks, Coolgardie, Western Australia being entered into. This again was an unsuccessful and a new property covering 826 acres was acquired in the Axim district, Gold Coast Colony. In Febuary 1901 the name was changed to the Wassau Gold Reefs Ltd.
