Description

The Odessa Commercial Bank, whose charter with a capital of five million rubles was approved by the highest permission of Alexander II (1818 – 1881) on March 17, 1870, became a spiritual continuation of those first undertakings of a whole galaxy of the richest and most eminent families of the city, including Rafalovichi, Ephrussi, Rodokanaks, Stroganovs, Vorontsovs, Chikhachevs, Mavro, Marazli, from which their fortunes began.

After the transformation of the Commercial Bank into the Accounting Bank eight years later, its role in the economic life of the city began to grow rapidly, which after a while allowed it to be conveniently located at Deribasovskaya No. 5, practically next to the city’s business center.
