Acton’s Swaziland Concession Ltd
Registered 5th October 1889. In voluntary liquidation 29th December 1909. Company number 29829
Capital £36,000 in shares of £1.
Formed to acquire 170 square miles of ground from the Mines Contract Co., Ltd.. The prospectus advises that this is a highly auriferous ground that will be cheap to work. Upon inspection the company found that there was no gold present on the property. In 1892 the company reached an arrangement with the Bird’s Swaziland Concession Ltd., to prospect the property of the Orange River Estate Co., Ltd. By 1893 an option had been acquired to purchase farms in the Lydenburg district, Transvaal. This option does not appear to have been taken up. Interests where also acquired in the Bellingwe Development Syndicate Ltd. Little other work appears to have been done.
