Chard, Ilminster and Taunton Railway Company
Incorporated on 6th August 1861
Proposed to connect the Bristol and English Channels, and to connect Chard with the Bristol & Exeter Railway. The company was dissolved by the Bristol and Exeter Railway Act of 1863, the latter company building the line and closing the Chard Canal. This line passed to the Great Western company along with the Bristol and Exeter in 1876.
Capital £120,000 in shares of £10, and loans of £40,000.
