East and West Yorkshire Union Railway Company
Incorporated on 2nd August 1883
A network of five lines, running approximately 30 miles in total. In 1889 and 1890 many of these lines were abandoned, and the capital was reduced. A small line of about 5 miles was built and opened in 1892, and the company took over the South Leeds Junction Railway in 1896. The lines were opened to passengers under a light railway order in 1901.
Capital £1,200,000 in shares of £10 each. Loans of £400,000. Reduced in 1889 to £900,000 and £300,000 respectively, and again in 1890 to only £150,000 and £50,000 in loans or debenture stock.
