
Great Central Railway Company
Incorporated on 1st August 1897
Formed out of the existing Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, which company had absorbed numerous others, many jointly operated by the Cheshire Lines Committee and the Great Northern Railway also. It later built extensions into London Marylebone, and joined with the Great Western Railway to extend into Buckinghamshire. The company also had mutual lines with the Metropolitan Railway.
Original Capital under MS&LR. Total capital over £55,000,000 includes £5,318,490 in preferred stock; £5,339,530 in deferred stock; £20,567,489 in preference shares/stock, and £21,204,978 in debenture stock.
