Incorporated on 3rd July 1837.
An 8 mile line running between the Hartlepool Railway and the Clarence Railway, with a junction with the Great North of England line. It opened in 1846 and was leased to the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway in 1848.
Original capital £52,500 and loans £17,500. Increased to £74,900 and £24,500 by an Act of 1845.
