Hollingworth Lake and Gardens Company Ltd
Registered 1881. The lake at Smithy Bridge, near Rochdale was originally a reservoir for the Rochdale Canal. It developed over the years into a tourist attraction with 3 steamers, pleasure boats and swimming. The Rowing club was headquartered there and several hotels were built around the 130 acre site and the whole area developed into a very busy tousist attraction by the end of the 19th century. In decline following WWI the area is again a thriving centre for all types of watersports. Dissolved <1916. Company number 15754
