Hoylake and Birkenhead Rail and Tramway Company
Incorporated on 18th July 1872.
Formed to unite the existing Hoylake Railway and the Hoylake and Birkenhead Tramway companies. The latter was to construct a short line linking the existing station with the Woodside Ferry. The company was renamed the Seacombe, Hoylake and Deeside Railway in 1881, and in 1891 it became the Wirral Railway.
Capital £70,000 in shares of £10 each, loans of £23,330. Further capital for extensions in 1873 £24,000 and £8,000 respectively.
