Formed in 1926 by the merger of Brunner Mond, Nobel explosives, United Alkali and British Dyestuffs Corporation to become the largest manufacturer in Great Britain. ICI was to become a household name.
Capital £75,000,000 in 18,920,000 7% Cumulative Preference shares of £1, 37,013,855 Ordinary shares of £1 and 21,742,570 Deferred shares of 10/-. Increased to £95,000,000 by 1930 in 22,270,000 7% Cumulative Preference shares of £1, 43,707,355 Ordinary shares of £1, 21,745,290 Deferred shares of 10 shillings;15,650,000 shares of £1 and 5,000,000 shares of 10 shillings also may be issued as any type of share as necessary. By 1943 the capital was reorganised into £23,801,482 7% Cumulative Preference stock and 474 shares, £50,401,861 Ordinary stock and 635 shares and 20,795,548 shares of £1 to be issued as any type as required. By 1948 reorganised again into £24,077,691 7% Cumulative Preference stock and 4,265 shares, £50,465,116 Ordinary stock and 7,380 shares and 20,445,548 shares of £1 to be issued as any type as required.
