
Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company
Incorporated on 27th July 1846.
An amalgamation of the Sheffield and Lincolnshire Junction Railway, the Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction Railway, and the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway, initially totalling 212 miles. The company was authorised to extend into London in 1893, this line opening in 1898 and changed its name to the Great Central Railway.

Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester: Capital £1,871,000 in 7,000 £100 Whole Shares, 18,000 £25 No.1 Quarter Shares, 10,640 £25 No.2 Quarter Shares, and 41,200 £12.5s No.3 Shares.
Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction: Capital £1,455,000 in 12,000 £50 Whole Shares, 32,750 £20 New Shares, and 16,000 £12.10s Quarter Shares.
Sheffield and Lincolnshire: Capital £950,000 in 38,000 £25 Shares.
Grimsby Dock: Capital £420,000 in £25 Shares.
