Margate Railway Company
Incorporated on 17th August 1857.
A 10 mile line linking Faversham (and the London, Chatham and Dover line) to Whitstable and Herne Bay. It opened in 1860, and was renamed the Kent Coast Railway in 1861 after authorisation to extend to Ramsgate, and passed to the London, Chatham and Dover Railway in 1871.
Capital £80,000 in shares of £20 each. Loans of £26,000. Extension capital of £105,000 in shares created in 1859, and £35,000 in loans.
