Metropolitan and St. John’s Wood Railway Company
Incorporated on 29th July 1864.
A 2½ mile line, effectively an extension of the Metropolitan Railway linking it to the Hampstead Junction Railway. It opened in stages from 1868 to 1892, having been extended as far as Harrow, Rickmansworth and later Aylesbury.
Capital £300,000 in shares of £10 each. Loans of £100,000. Extension capital of £200,000 in shares and £66,000 on loan.
