Metropolitan Railway Company
Incorporated on 7th August 1854
A re-incorporation of the North Metropolitan Railway of 1853. The mixed gauge line opened in 1863 as the first underground railway in the country. It was extended and adapted for electric traction in 1905, later amalgamating with the Undergound Electric Railways Company of London in 1933.
