
North Union Railway Company
Incorporated on 22nd May 1834.
An amalgamation of the Wigan Branch Railway (1830) and the abandoned Preston and Wigan Railway (1831). The company was taken over by the Manchester and Leeds, and the Grand Junction Railways in 1846. Later passed to the Lancashire and Yorkshire, and the London and North Western Railways jointly in 1888.
Authorised Capital £860,000 in shares, divided into consolidated A Stock and B Stock. Loans of £376,000
