Oxford and Great Western Union Railway Company
Proposed in 1836 and 1838.
A planned extension of the Great Western line to connect with the city of Oxford (see Oxford Railway). It was opposed by the University as well as locals and was not built under this name. The connection was finally made by the Oxford and Rugby Railway Company (taken over by the GWR) from 1845.
