Regent’s Canal, City and Docks Railway Company
Incorporated on 18th August 1882.
Formed to take over the Regents Canal and construct railway lines to link the Great Western with the city and Royal Albert Docks. Also authorised to make connections with the Midland and Great Northern Railways at St. Pancras and King’s Cross (later named the ‘city lines undertaking’). The company was re-named the North Metropolitan Railway and Canal Co. in 1892 but lines were never built.
Capital £8,100,000 in shares of £10 each. Mortgage borrowing of £2,390,000. New capital raised in 1885 of £660,000.
