Solway Junction Railway Company
Incorporated on 30th June 1864.
A line running 25 miles and connecting the Caledonian and the Maryport and Carlisle Railways. It opened in 1869, subscribed to by the North British and the Glasgow and South Western companies by £100,000 each. The line passed to the Caledonian Railway in 1895.
Original capital £320,000 in shares of £10 each. Loans of £106,000. New capital raised in 1866 of £60,000 and £20,000 respectively, followed by various further adjustments. Total capital in 1890 was £437,369.
