
South Eastern Railway Company
Incorporated on 21st June 1836.
A standard gauge line running over 135 miles between the capital and the port of Dover. It opened throughout in 1844, and amalgamated with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway in 1899 and formed the South Eastern and Chatham Railway Companies Managing Committee. The lines formed the Eastern section of the Southern Railway at grouping.
Original Capital £1,400,000 in shares and £450,000 in loans.
Increased to £7,433,700 which was divided into; 56,000 Original £50 Shares; 28,000 £32 New Shares ‘No.1’; 42,000 £33 1/3 New Shares ‘No.2’; 31,500 £30 Consolidated Shares ‘No.3’; and 285,000 £10 New Third Shares ‘No.4’. Loans of £2,647,027.
