Southwold Railway Company
Incorporated on 24th July 1876.
A narrow gauge line running 9 miles to connect the town with the Great Eastern Railway. It opened in 1879, and closed by 1929 following poor takings due to its 16mph speed limit enforced by the Board of Trade.
Capital £40,000 in shares of £10 each, and loans of £13,000. Increased in 1880 by £9,000 in preference shares, and £3,000 of debentures.
