
Straker-Squire Ltd
Registered 1913 as Straker Squire (1913) Limited. Name changed in June 1917. Restructured and reincorporated around 1921 and then again 23rd May 1925. Company numbers 132050 and 206184. Straker started building steam wagons in Bristol, joined with Squire in 1904 and continued to build commercial vehicles and buses but also French cars under licence. Progressed to cars of their own design and continued to prosper until Straker was killed in an accident in 1926.
Capital £175,000 in shares of £1. Increased to £500,000 in shares of £1 and then reduced to £200,000 in shares of 5 shillings. On reorganisation in 1925 Capital £420,000 in 1,400,000 Preferred Ordinary shares of 5/- and 1,400,000 Proprietors’ shares of 1/-.
