Incorporated before 1812. The company was formed following the disastrous fire of 1809 that destroyed the previous structure. The new theatre, designed by Benjamin Wyatt opened in 1812. A restoration project announced in 2013 by Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Really Useful Theatres group who then owned the theatre.
