Wilts, Somerset and Weymouth Railway Company
Incorporated on 30th June 1845.
Originally put forward by the Great Western Railway as the Wilts and Somerset Railway, to run between Corsham and Salisbury. The route was later extended to Weymouth (where the Bristol and Exeter line was planned to join) and other changes meant the line was not completed until being taken over by the Great Western in 1850.
Capital £1,500,000 in shares, in creased to £1,740,600. Loans of £580,000.
