York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway Company
Incorporated on 9th August 1847.
Originally the Newcastle and Durham Junction Railway, re-named the York and Newcastle in 1847 and merged with the Newcastle and Berwick Railway in 1847 when it was again re-named as above. The company amalgamated with the York and North Midland, and the Leeds Northern Railways to form the North Eastern Railway.
Capital over £9,000,000 following the various amalgamations. Over £3,000,000 in loans. £6,622,260 in ordinary stock and shares. £2,437,715 in preference stock and shares.
