
Edinburgh, Leith and Granton Railway Company
Incorporated on 19th July 1844
Originally named the Edinburgh, Leith and Newhaven Railway (1836). Only part of the intended line was opened, with the Leith section being abandoned due to engineering difficulties. This section was revivied when the extension to Granton was authorised. The line was taken over by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway in 1847.
Capital £100,000 in shares and £40,000 in loans.
Extension capital in 1847 of £45,000 and £56,000.
