Incorporated on 26th August 1880
Originally proposed for one line running between St. Cuthbert’s and Duddington, but in 1882 was amended to four smaller lines. The company became part of the North British network in 1885, and passed to the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923.

Capital £225,000 in shares of £10 each, loans of £75,000.
