Johnstone and Ardrossan Railway Company
Incorporated on 26th May 1827.
A line built to replace the incomplete Glasgow and Ardrossan Canal. Only about 5 miles were built and worked by horse initially. The line was doubled to allow locomotives, and later connected to the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway in 1840.
