Tay Bridge Railway Company
Incorporated in 1870
A line to connect the North British main line with Aberdeen via bridge, across the River Tay, to join the Dundee and Arbroath line. The first bridge was completed in 1877 and opened in 1878, but collapsed during a storm in December 1879. It was replaced by a viaduct in 1887, designed by W. H. Barlow.
