Wilsontown, Morningside and Coltness Railway Company
Incorporated on 21st June 1841.
Originally named the Shotts and Wilsontown Railway but received it’s Act under the new name. A mineral line built as an extension of the Wishaw and Coltness Railway running nearly 9 miles. It opened in 1845, the line was taken over by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway and passed to the Caledonian along with the Wishaw and Coltness.
Capital prior to takeover: £140,000 in shares of £50 each (Old and New).
