Second Street Cable Railroad Company
Incorporated 14th March 1885 in California. Controlled by Edward A. Hall as President and H.C.Witmer as secretary, who, with Newhall, formed the Los Angeles Improvement Company mainly to develop the outskirts of the city. To aid the developement this cable line was built to the 900 acres of Crown Hill which had just been purchased by the Land company. The line was extremely successful and all the land lots were sold within 18 months.
