Consolidated Tobacco Company
Incorporated in 1901 in New Jersey by James Duke and others as a holding company. They purchased Ogdens in the UK which caused other British forms to consolidated into Imperial Tobacco to combat the American attack on their business. This in turn led to the formation of British-American Tobacco Company, Limited whereby the American Tobacco Company and Imperial Tobacco Company were joined to control all markets without competition. This company was dissolved under the Anti Trust laws in 1911.
