South Side Rail Road Company of Long Island
Incorporated in 1860, reorganised in 1874 as the Southern Railroad of Long Island and leased in 1876 to the Long Island Railroad. Following another reorganisation as the Brooklyn and Montauk Railroad in 1879 they were finally merged in 1889.
